Another busy week of learning, creativity and exciting discoveries in Year 4!

We began the week with Mrs Ellis joining us as our supply teacher. We always love welcoming new faces into our classroom and were grateful to have her with us!

In Maths, we have been comparing and ordering numbers, getting to grips with our greater than, less than and equals symbols. In Geography, we have begun exploring the famous Route 66, ready to become persuasive tour guides over the coming weeks! Meanwhile, in Science, we continued classifying plants, learning how features such as flowering, leaf loss and pollination help us to identify and group them.

We have some wonderful news to share from English, too! After writing and sending our persuasive letters to Councillor Antony Tucker, we were delighted to receive a response when Mrs Edge brought an envelope addressed to us to our classroom! You’ll be pleased to hear that our voices have made a difference and Spencer Park will remain open! We are incredibly proud of the children for using their writing to express their views, stand up for something they believe in and make a real difference to their community. What a fantastic reminder that even the youngest voices deserve to be heard!

Our English lessons have taken a rather mysterious turn this week, too! We arrived in the classroom to discover photographic evidence that someone – or something – had been visiting us overnight. A teeny-tiny note revealed that a few things had been borrowed from our classroom! This intriguing discovery has inspired our next writing adventure as we develop our classic fiction narrative skills. We are imagining what Arrietty, the little Borrower, might have wanted from our classroom, why she might have needed these things and what adventures could have unfolded along the way. We can’t wait to see where the children’s imaginations take them!

We have also enjoyed another fabulous week of Tennis and Computing with Mr You, alongside Music with Mrs Cooke. There have been plenty of birthday celebrations to enjoy, too! Finally, we ended the week by coming together as a whole school, dressed in yellow to support YoungMinds and World Mental Health Day 2026. Our whole-school assembly reminded us that our futures are bright and back in the classroom we created our own identity constellations, celebrating the unique qualities, interests, relationships and experiences that make each of us who we are. It was a wonderful opportunity to reflect on our individuality, celebrate one another and remember the importance of looking after our mental health.

Well done, Year 4! Have a lovely weekend!
