In Year 2 we have been learning about why the lotus flower is important in Buddhism. Then we had a go at drawing them. I was absolutely amazed with all the children’s attempts. Well done everyone! We definitely have some artists in the making.
We started out our maths learning this week by sorting skittles into a tally chart and then making a pictogram. It was a lot of fun but it did make us very hungry!
On Friday we walked to church to listen to Barbara tell us about the process of Baptism. We had volunteers be parents and god parents and learnt more about the different symbols. We will be writing about what we learnt in our RE books this week.
We have left a delicious smell in the staff room after making 3 different types of vegetable soup today. In groups, the children decided what vegetables to add and then we put it in Miss Clarke’s soup maker…and as if by magic we had a smooth, tasty soup to try. We then discussed what we liked about the soup and what we would change next time.
We were practicing our balancing skills today on low apparatus! Ask us what we had to think about when we were doing our balance.
Mrs Elkins was really proud of the children chosen to represent All Souls in the gymnastics competition. Well done everyone, a great effort 🙂
It was lovely to visit the library yesterday. We have been looking at fairy tales in English and wanted to read different ones. The children were reading to each other which was fantastic to see! Hopefully we can go back soon!
This afternoon we looked at the fantastic selection of projects that the children handed in. We really enjoyed seeing how children had done different things to show what they had learnt. We have also made calendars this week which were sent home today! We look forward to our trip to Earlsdon Library on Tuesday.
Well the year 2 children (soon to be year 3) experienced their first transition afternoon. The children were very excited, and got to know some of the new things about the move to KS2. We became superheros and discussed our superpowers, weaknesses and how we can change the world!
We then created unique fingerprint butterflies ready for our classroom in September, to show our own individuality and freedom to learn in the classroom. A great start!
